A system is a whole consisting of its parts. We describe our project as a system. We discuss two types of systems. The first one is a system of algebraic structures and statistical hypotheses we put forward to state a problem and select an optimal model. The second one is a system of black boxes we believe to form an exploitable model.

The seminar

  1. The warm-up 5-minute test
  2. The model selection problem statement
  3. The Bayesian inference
  4. Examples of problem statement
  5. IDEF0 and examples
  6. Homework discussion

Homework

The homework is to prepare yourself for a warm-up test. During the test, you read an informal problem statement. And return a formal problem statement and an IDEF0 scheme, handwritten. So for the next seminar, you have to prepare

  1. a sheet of paper and a pen,
  2. a phone with a camera to upload your drawing.

Examples of the problem statement

  1. Generation of simple structured IR functions by genetic algorithm without stagnation
  2. Feature Selection for ECoG-based Brain-Computer Interface
  3. Stresstest procedures for feature selection algorithms
  4. Comprehensive study of feature selection methods
  5. a problem statement (beware the spherical horse in a vacuum)
